We had the radiation therapy consult today and Chicken will start tomorrow! Dr. Denman is awesome. He spent some time at Colorado State University and then when University of Cincinnati offered him a professor position, he said that he would come only if they started a veterinary radiation facility for him and they did! He is not a vet, but is trained in human medicine but has been working with animals and radiation therapy for many, many years. I really like him.
The best news is that Chicken is going to start tomorrow! She will have 21-23 treatments and he said that most likely she will be bald in the scruff spot for the rest of her life, but I don’t think she’ll mind. The worst of it is that she will have an IV port thingy in her paw so they want her to wear an E collar for 4 weeks. Yeah, we’ll see how that goes. Paws crossed for Chicken.
